Cents per km or a logbook. Lodgya does both.
The ATO gives you two ways to claim car costs for work. Lodgya keeps the records for both. You can pick the one that gives you more.
Best for a little work driving. Lodgya adds up your work trips for you.
Best for lots of work driving or a pricier car. Lodgya tracks the 12 weeks, the odometer and your work-use % for you.
General information only, not tax advice. Driving between home and your normal workplace is usually private, not work travel. Sole traders and employees can both use these methods for a car. Other vehicles have different rules.

Trips in a few taps
Set your work base once. Lodgya fills in where you start, your last odometer reading and the distance of trips you have done before.
12-week logbook, tracked
Start a logbook and Lodgya counts the days. It checks the odometer and works out your work-use %.
Work, business or private
Mark each trip as employment, business or private. Lodgya keeps one work-use % for your job and one for your business.
Odometer records
Lodgya saves start and end readings for the logbook and for each tax year. The ATO asks for these in later years.
Addresses found for you
On a paid plan, start typing and pick the address. Lodgya fills in the driving distance too.
A logbook you can hand over
Print your logbook for your accountant. Or keep it in case the ATO asks.
Rideshare and delivery shifts
Drive for Uber, DiDi or a delivery app? Tap Start shift when you log on. Tap End shift when you log off. The whole shift counts as work, pickups too.
Trips with more than one stop
On a paid plan, add each stop on a run. Each leg is saved as its own trip. Send the route to Google Maps and drive it.
Car costs and receipts
On a paid plan, save your rego, insurance, service and fuel receipts. Lodgya adds them up and puts them in your claim.
Private by design, not by promise.
No GPS tracking
Lodgya never follows your location. You log the trips you choose.
Stored on your device
Your logbook lives in your own browser. You can add an encrypted cloud backup if you like.
Never sold
We never sell your trips or your data. We never share them with anyone.
Made in Melbourne
Built in Australia for the ATO's rules. Made by a real person you can email.
Before you start
Is it really free?
Yes. You can log as many trips as you like for one vehicle. You do not need a card. Paid plans add more vehicles, address lookup and your claim in dollars.
Can I claim driving to and from work?
Usually not. The ATO says the trip between home and your normal workplace is private, even if it's long. Some trips usually do count. These are trips between work sites, to clients, or to a short-term workplace. Trips where you carry bulky tools you need for work usually count too. You can log your commute as private so your logbook stays complete.
Does Lodgya track my location?
No. There's no GPS tracking. You add each trip yourself. Saved places and return trips make it quick. On a paid plan, the addresses you type are sent to Google to look them up.
What's the difference between work and business trips?
Work (employment) trips are for your job. They go to your personal tax return. Business trips are for your own business with an ABN. They go to your business records. Lodgya keeps a work-use % for each. You can log both on every plan.
How long do I need to keep the logbook?
The logbook must cover at least 12 weeks in a row. Those weeks should show your normal driving. You can then use it for up to 5 years if your driving doesn't change much. You must also record your odometer at the start and end of each year. Keep the records for 5 years after you lodge.
Can I use it on my phone?
Yes. Lodgya works in any browser. You can add it to your iPhone or Android home screen like an app. No app store needed. That's the easiest way to log trips as you go.
Can I upgrade later?
Yes. Start free and move up anytime from your account. Your trips stay where they are. You can cancel a paid plan anytime with no lock-in.
Is this tax advice?
No. Lodgya is a tool for keeping records. It gives general information only. For advice about your own tax, talk to a registered tax agent. Our free tax Q&A and logbook calculator cover the common questions.
